A parasitic extraterrestrial entity that mimics its hosts has escaped from an American Antarctic research outpost. Because they don't know which members of the team have already been absorbed, and because their paranoia threatens to tear them apart, this task becomes more difficult than they had movie review imagined. In 1982, John Carpenter's "The Thing," a box office dud, drove reviewers scrambling for the hills with its grisly, minute-by-minute effects. The film's physical effects still stand the test of time better than CGI, but most of the other life lessons you may take from this film are best avoided. That is, unless you like spending time in prison.
